Grinding media production starts in order to exploit the strategical location of the mill.
1975
Diversification of portfolio starting production of railroad spikes and sucker rods.
1979
El Paso Electric acquire Border Steel.
1980
Border Steel open several fabrication shops in the west coast.
1986
Implementation of heat treat line for grinding media products.
1988
E.A. Goodman acquires Border Steel Mills.
1993
Enters Ch 11 bankruptcy.
1997
Emerges from bankruptcy and acquired by Villacero Group.
2006
Installation of Shredder machine.
2007
Acquired by Mittal Steel as part of SICARTSA deal.
2008
Acquires 63 acres of adjacent land to support future expansion.

Black Diamond holdings acquire ArcelorMittal Vinton to become Bayou Steel Vinton.
